ANQ : Nepali Night 2066

"I never expected that there is a Nepalese Community here in Montreal", said a Nepali speaking Bhutanese refugees, eager to express his happiness to NCN about his recent arrival in Montreal and his introduction to its flourishing Nepalese community.
18 April 2009 marked the second year that the Association of Nepalese in Quebec (ANQ) and Saint-Barthélemy Elementary School jointly organized the annual Nepali New Year Celebration program in Montreal. The event not only offers the chance to socialize with friends and family, it is also an opportunity to promote Nepali and Canadian cultures, as well as an occasion to raise resources for schools in Nepal. More than 300 people, including Nepali speaking Bhutanese refugees, parents & students of the school and members of ANQ participated in the Nepali new year 2066 celebration.
As one parent fondly recapped his experience: "I enjoyed the party a lot and had a chance to learn Nepali culture. At the same time we are able to help Nepalese school in Nepal which made me very content. I wish ANQ and Saint-Barthélemy Elementary School could continue this event every year".
