Nepali Republic Day Celebrated in Canada
Ottawa, May 28: The Nepali Republic Day is observed on Saturday in Ottawa, commemorating the declaration of Nepal as a republic by the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly elected following the 2006 mass uprising and ending the 240-year-old monarchy.
A special programme was organised at theCanterbury Recreation Complex to mark this day in the capital city of Canada - Ottawa by the Embassy of Nepal in Canada.
Ambassador Dr. Bhoj Raj Ghimere, Embassy Staff, NRN Canada President Mr. Naba Raj Gurung, representatives from Association of Nepalese in Quebec, NCO, ACNC including general members from various local organizations attended the programme.
Ambassador Dr Bhoj Raj Ghimire, Naba Raj Gurung, Dr, Hemant Paudel, Ms Radha Basnet, Mr Govinda Singh Rawat and Dr. Govinda Dahal have extended greetings and good wishes on the occasion of the Republic Day.
The announcement of winner of the poem competition that was recently held online by International Nepali Poetry Solidarity and poems read and written by various poets made the program even interesting and lively.
More than 150 people attended the republic day event and dinner was also served on the occasion.
